If the plane is going down I'm going to have problems getting my record player out and making the turntable level... If the needle stays down then it'll be "Five Ten Fiftyfold" by the Cocteau Twins. :-)

I don't fly very often, but I never go without my iPod, as well as sunglasses, a couple of books, and a hat. (Some people still try to talk to me anyway.) One of my go-to bands for traveling is Sea of Tombs (http://www.myspace.com/seaoftombs) - only one CD that I know of, but it is great instrumental heavy psyche rock.

Plane is going down, Sea of Tombs - possibly quite fitting!

Pretty much depends where I'm flying to ... My first choice [and the first thing that came to mind] is Suicide Commando's "See you in Hell"

In case I'm flying "Home" it woulde Depeche Mode's "Home" [since that's where the Heart is]

Hopefully something by Sopor Aeternus and the Ensemble of Shadows like this:

Or something by Bacio di Tosca like this:

Or, last but not least, something by Dark Sanctuary, like this:

For me, these are all great songs to perish to.

I wouldn't be on a plane... I last flew in 1965.

But I do have an iPod, and it's loaded with several different mixes of this song (that seems appropriate to me):

I've been listening to Sopor Aeternus since the mid-90's. Todeswunsch, if memory serves . . . Good choice. Don't know the two others, but they are nice.

But if the plane's goin' down, w/ all the screaming I doubt I could enjoy a mellow tune or two before the splash, so I'll just have a last smoke, maybe hum the tune of Peter Rowan's "Free Mexican Airforce" :)

Another Sopor Aeternus fan, awesome! :) In my opinion Anna Varney-Cantodea is the epitome of the brilliant tortured artist these days. I've been following her career since the mid-90's and Todeswunsch was my first album as well. I was instantly hooked, and have adored all the albums she subsequently released. She just gets better and better with age. You really need to hear Les Fleurs du Mal if you haven't done so already.

As for all the screaming, I think that would be a great opportunity to see just how effective my noise canceling headphones can be!
