I find that's a good story to give people as an introduction to Ligotti.

Anyone read 'Wood' by Robert Aickman. I think this is one of my favourite Aickman stories. One of my favourite stories ever!

I reread 'Wood' after posting yesterday, and it indeed lives up to my memories of it. It would appeal to Ligotti lovers, enormously, I'd think. Not to be confused with another Aickman story called 'In The Wood'.

'Think of it: wood waking up. I can't put it any clearer than that. And let's not forget the paint for the hair and lips, the glass for the eyes. These too are aroused from a sleep that should never have been broken; these too are now part of a tingling network of dummy-nerves, alive and aware in a way we cannot begin to imagine. Alas! Now I know what it feels like.

The moment of consummate disaster: when I look up towards where my spiderwebs lead, to face the Yahoo master.
