I've just printed out and read your excellent review of Ellen's Poe -- and I wanted to thank you for such an in-depth and informative review. I had no idea the book was out, and I am now anxious to go find a copy because of your admirable review. As to your opening opinions about how Lovecraft imitation thrives, but there is little of Poe imitation -- this is mostly a matter of market: there has been an active Cthulhu Mythos market ever since the creation of Arkham House. Not so for Edgar. My favorite Poe book was A Man Called Poe, which I loaned to a friend 15 years ago and never got back. Cannot now recall the editor, but it's a book I shall have to find again. Sadly, April Derleth informed a friend of mine that the Poe anthology Arkham House published -- two years ago? -- did not sell well, which is one reason Arkham hasn't published much since then. I'm anxious to read more of your reviews!
