Has anyone had any paranormal experiences...

I think that there was a thread where this was discussed, but I'll never find it.

I mean something so real, frightening, etc., that it couldn't be anything else except a supernatural occurrence.

I believe that I have, about two years ago, but I am not at liberty to discuss it at this time.

Plus, in retrospect it scares the living #### out of me.

Aside from the occasional deja vu or eerie coincidence, this may currently be my only experience I can't quite explain:

Myself and a buddy had planned a day for camping in early November when the weather was still warm in the South. However, that day saw the temperature fall about thirty degrees, making it the coldest day of the year yet. But my friend and I shrugged it off, both itching for the great outdoors.

That night, our fire pit was the only one lit on the entire campground. The cold crept in, biting our gloved fingers, pulling us closer to the warmth of the fire when--a sound, like a stereotypical Native American battlecry, permeated the forest. It was soft enough we didn't notice it over the sounds of our own voices and the crackling flames, at first. But then I heard a ruckus down the hill from our camp, as if a group of kids were running toward one of the restrooms stationed throughout the grounds. Then I remembered, we'd driven through the grounds multiple times and seen no one else. We were the only fools camping in thirty degree weather. Must just be the wind swaying branches, I thought. So I wait a moment. No wind. No trees swaying in the moonlight. And the sound, the ruckus of an unseen sprinter, is coming up the hill, straight for us.

Whatever was headed for us at that inhuman pace over treacherous terrain, particularly in the dark, I determined, was not something I wanted to come face to face with. Especially not to the score of an ominous battlecry.

We hopped in the car, and drove through the grounds. Not a soul in sight.

We slept in the car that night.

Re: Has anyone had any paranormal experiences...

I've always been a skeptic when it came to paranormal experiences, but in the last few years some things have happened that have changed my mind. I will share one thing that is unexplainable to me.

I had been sick for a few days and one night I dreamt that I walked into a lounge and my friend's older brother (whom I've known since I was a teenager) was standing at a bar in slacks, open collar buttoned shirt, and a pair of black dress loafers. We got to talking and I asked about his brother (my friend who I hadn't seen in a while) and he mentioned that, "We don't talk much anymore." I knew that there were some minor arguments among the siblings, but was surprised to hear that. I said, "Oh, I'm sorry to hear that. " He knew what I meant and he said, "No, it's not that it's just that I haven't seen him in a while and..." his voice trailed off. I asked how he was (I knew that he had a drinking problem) and he said, "Ok, I guess." We made some small talk and that was that. I told my wife the dream the next day and we didn't discuss it again.

I found out later that my friend's brother had died the night before I had the dream. Pretty much, a lifetime of drinking and smoking, and a neglect of his health had caught up with him.

I've never dreamed about him or my friend before or since.

I think something can imitate dead people; I mean real people that have lived and died. I think they know how they looked, how they sounded, their mannerisms, and certain thoughts that they've possessed. I think that they can create sounds, smells, and visual phenomena. I'm pretty sure that we should have nothing to do with them whatsoever. This is my opinion.

I believe quite a few paranormal happenings could be explained by our minds doing things we don't quite yet understand, if we ever will. We seem to psychically link to one another, whether we like it or not. Hive mentality is evident, especially in my experience working retail. I'd go so far as to say it could possibly be the mind itself projecting images of spectral visages from within and telling our eyes we've physically seen them. There's simply too much to never understand.

Re: Has anyone had any paranormal experiences...

According to my mother, I have been involved with one though I cannot remember how. My mother always saw spirits and other stuffs whenever we moved into a new place. She told me a large shadow passed through her once in our apartment and another time "someone with long hair" (I always have short hair) climbed on the bed with her.

Anyway in our apartment my mother sleeps in her room while I sleep in the living room/entrance. One night as she walked to the toilet she saw me sitting awake on the sofa talking to an "uncle". She said I talked as if I had known him for a long time. She was scared and tried to shake me awake but I stopped talking and went back to sleep.

Another time my aunt came over to visit us and slept in mother room. It was early morning when my mother walked quietly to the restroom as she saw my aunt was still asleep...then she heard cooking noise from the kitchen. I wasn't awake either so she got scared and called out "Sister...sister!" to wake my aunt up (the restroom is next door to her room), but the answer came from the kitchen. My aunt woke up long ago and whatever was asleep on the bed wasn't my aunt.

In a word, yes. It happened at a bed and breakfast I was staying at in Savannah, Georgia with my then-fiancé. I was awakened shortly after 4 am with the very distinct impression that we were not alone. I saw nothing, but felt only what I can describe as a presence. In my mind, I remember saying "I can feel you. If there's something you want to say, I am listening." After a few seconds the word "pink" suddenly popped into my head. A moment later my sleeping fiancé said "pink" out loud. I raised up and said her name, but she was sound asleep. After that, whatever the presence was disappeared. I have never been able to explain it my fiancé was shocked when I told her what had happened.

All right, nj.

You have a bitchin' opening paragraph for a story. Now get on it and deliver. It's too good to waste.

Maybe, but I've got to put some things to rest. I was serious about an experience that I won't share publicly, as it involves someone near and dear to me.

I can say this with certainty, my mind wasn't playing tricks on me, because what happened was completely unexpected. At the time the experience just seemed odd. When certain things came to light the next day it seemed sinister. After doing some research my blood ran cold.

Re: Has anyone had any paranormal experiences...

About six or seven years ago, I was staying on my own in a holiday cottage in Beaumaris, a small seaside town in Anglesey, North Wales. The cottage itself was relatively modern, although I later discovered that it had been built on the site of an old coal yard.

I had gone to bed about midnight, but stayed awake for an hour or so doing some work on my laptop. When I had finished, I plugged it in and left it charging on the nightstand next to the bed (there was only one socket in the room). However, when I awoke the next morning, I found the laptop perched on the windowsill, wide open and powered-up. For some reason this didn't faze me. I rationalised it by some vague notion that I must have got up during the night in a somnambulic state and moved it myself.

The following night, I put the laptop on charge in the same way. This time, something caused me to wake at about 4am and there was the laptop back on the windowsill again! I was half-asleep so I just stumbled out of bed, powered it down and put it back on the nightstand.

About an hour later, I was awoken by a loud noise. I switched on the bedside light to find that my suitcase (which I was 100% sure I had zipped tightly shut) was lying wide open with the contents spewed out over the floor. This was not so easy to rationalise. A split second later, there was an almighty crash from the wardrobe next to the bed and both the wardrobe doors swung open by themselves. I could see that every single clothes-hanger (+attached clothes) inside the wardrobe had somehow managed to jump off the rail simultaneously.

I was in heart-attack territory by now and I leapt out of bed, switched on every light in the house and spent the rest of the night wrapped in a blanket on a chair in the front porch with my nerves completely shot to pieces.

I later found out from various sources that I wasn't the first guest to have this sort of 'experience' and the house stopped being advertised as a holiday let soon afterwards.

In hindsight, far from being terrifying, it now all seems utterly ridiculous (what is the point of a clothes-throwing, laptop-hating ghost or whatever it was??).
