Re: Warriors of Love

The Chomu Press edition of Jane was taken down because its publisher ceased to exist.
The previous self-published titles were removed because that was one of the stipulations of my Chomu contract.

Re: Warriors of Love

I'm much surprised to learn that there are copies of Jane and Daisy "floating around". It was self-published and (surely) very few copies exist.
But, yes, my intention was that any of the Warriors...

Re: Clark Ashton Smith

I think the best (only?) book on CAS's art so far published is The Fantastic Art of Clark Ashton Smith issued by Mirage Press in the 1970s. With its often murky black and white photographs, it's...

Re: Thoughts on Darrell Schweitzer

I can recall Crypt of Cthulhu publishing 2 pieces of fiction from me and three non-fiction (plus some letters). The fiction comprised (titles from memory):

The Kindly Elder
Princess of the...

Re: Thoughts on Darrell Schweitzer

True. In any case, RE Howard, Lord Dunsany, James Branch Cabell and Jack Vance are four very different writers. I'm not sure that either Dunsany or Cabell is well served by being classified as...

Re: Thoughts on Darrell Schweitzer

Is it? If one wishes to read the authors you mention (or even if one doesn't), their works are readily available. Personally, I'd find a claim to originality a lot more alluring.

Re: Submission - Houellebecq's book about an Islamic France

I've now read the Paris Review interview (thank you for the link). I can't recall ever having previously read an interview in which I came to dislike the subject so strongly. Take this:

You...

Re: Thoughts on Darrell Schweitzer

I rather took against Darrell Schweitzer because he seemed so offended by my contributions to 'Crypt of Cthulhu'.

Re: Warriors of Love

Thank you, that's an interesting little article. I was rather surprised that the writer takes the feminine suffix as being '-tress', rather than '-ess'. A lot of examples do end with '-tress', but...

Re: Submission - Houellebecq's book about an Islamic France

In the first post on this thread there's a link to an interview with Mr Houellebecq. I wonder whether some kind person might re-post that link.

This afternoon, I went to the start of the thread,...

Re: Warriors of Love

I think that it is difficult to square the womb from which the universe emerged with male divinity. Take, if you will, what I believe to be the start of St John's Gospel. (I own many books, but the...

Re: Warriors of Love

Perhaps because of its bizarre angularity, I rather like the '-trix' suffix. Possibly another attraction, for me, is the irregular plural '-trices'. If it were generally applicable to words ending...

Re: Warriors of Love

Here's an issue on which I'd welcome other people's views. It's to do with language, rather than the storyline.

The twelve Warriors of Love novels cover almost a century during which there are...

Re: What Makes You Laugh?

As everyone knows, the best jokes are grammar jokes. Here's one I encountered recently:

Q: What's the difference between a cat and a comma?

A: A cat has claws on the end of its paws. A comma...

Re: Warriors of Love

I've now written more than eighty (preliminary draft) pages of the twelfth and final volume Daisy's Year. I wonder whether I will live to see the book published.

Re: More on Lovecraft

Yes and no. The racism found in the Derleth edited Selected Letters is very mild when compared with some of the jaw-dropping passages in Joshi edited letters volumes. (See, for example, Letters to...

As I implied yesterday above, the slow-burning fuse of your duodecology of novels looks as if it is now approaching well-deserved ignition...![/QUOTE]

I hope so!

Re: Warriors of Love

Much work has now been done on preparing Volume 2 Margaret for publication... but perhaps I should check with the prospective publisher before saying too much about that.

I am reminded of something I wrote of my childhood encounter (and later encounters) with the religious imagery of ancient Egypt:
