The following fragment by modernist poet Guiseppe Ungaretti seems to me to capture a quality authentically Ligottian:
Already autumnal dryness
Has sunk into my bones,
But, lengthening from shadow,
A demented never-ending
Radiance arrives:
Hidden torment of the sunken
Twilight...
