Will this be similar to your previous work, or will it be a departure of some kind? I suppose it's probably too early to disclose that.

"In a less scientific age, he would have been a devil-worshipper, a partaker in the abominations of the Black Mass; or would have given himself to the study and practice of sorcery. His was a religious soul that had failed to find good in the scheme of things; and lacking it, was impelled to make of evil itself an object of secret reverence."

It's an Evangelical screed against humanism and progressive politics.

No, it is a bit of a departure, I suppose, with element of psychological horror, PTSD, sleep paralysis, displacement, and surrealism, with an ambiguous presence of the supernatural.

In terms of set tense and narrative, it's a big departure. Sort of experimental, at least for me, as my stuff is normally pretty structurally square.

It's been the most challenging thing I've ever written.

As long as it retains the same razor-like prose, it should be awesome. I look forward to reading it.

Zero draft complete, prepped and waiting on the slab for the march of the red ink, and the scalpel to follow.

Re: I Am The River: A Novella

Very much looking forward to this. I'm also fascinated by the cover art, which reminds me of this promo poster for Tessier's The Nightwalker (minus all the ridiculous blurbage):

Thanks, Ucasuni.

My wife created it, and that particular pattern (Martinique wallpaper) ties into the story.
