Matthew M. Bartlett

An author that I feel Ligottians will find satisfying.

Re: Matthew M. Bartlett

I'd recently discovered Mr. Bartlett when I purchased his Gateways to Abomination on a recommendation. I thought that it was an interesting and creative book, and agree with Nemonymous that Ligotti fans might find his work very satisfying. I'll be purchasing this newer book any day now.

Re: Matthew M. Bartlett

I just started reading Bartlett's Creeping Waves. I'm enjoying it so far. It's weird fiction after several lines of cocaine (not that I would actually know).

"In a less scientific age, he would have been a devil-worshipper, a partaker in the abominations of the Black Mass; or would have given himself to the study and practice of sorcery. His was a religious soul that had failed to find good in the scheme of things; and lacking it, was impelled to make of evil itself an object of secret reverence."

~ Clark Ashton Smith, "The Devotee of Evil"

Re: Matthew M. Bartlett

Great writer, very unique style, i loved gateways when i first run to it and purchased everything else i could find of his afterwards..
He also published a new collection as an advent calendar thing called “a doomfull portent” a short while back, it was available through etsy, but i just tried searching for it to post a link here and it appears to be sold out..

Re: Matthew M. Bartlett

Bartlett's stuff is excellent. He captures the absurdity of nightmares and amps up the dread. There's a bleak sense of humor in his stories that accentuates the weird horror throughout. It's unsettling and beautiful in equal measures, like an Al Columbia cartoon. Love his work.
