Re: t. Winter-Damon

Thank you, des. I believe I have only seen a scan of the cover previously. Who would have thought that Felix the Cat and Popeye could be so sinister?

Winter-Damon also had a long poem published in Cthulhu's Heirs edited by Thomas M. K. Stratman.

"What does it mean to be alive except to court disaster and suffering at every moment?"

Tibet: Carnivals?
Ligotti: Ceremonies for initiating children into the cult of the sinister.
Tibet: Gas stations?
Ligotti: Nothing to say about gas stations as such, although I've always responded to the smell of gasoline as if it were a kind of perfume.

Re: t. Winter-Damon

Is it a coincidence that the cover of The Best of D F Lewis combines clowns and puppets?

The fact had slipped from the forefront of my mind, otherwise I would certainly have visualised this cover when I read The Clown Puppet recently.

I don't know what t Winter Damon had in mind at the time, but in those days I wrote stories - not about overt puppets and clowns - but about characters that seemed like puppets and clowns as part of their indefinable essence - I guess!

And maybe seemed a bit like Felix the Cat and Popeye as well?

Yes, those two stories in the chapbook - on reflection after seeing t w-d's illos - seemed to me aptly complemented by images of Popeye and Felix!
