Re: Weird Fiction Review

Thanks, and thanks Des. I just blogged your reading efforts at WFR, too.

Next week we tackle Alfred Kubin, Kafka, with fiction by Jeffrey Thomas and interviews with Margo Lanagan (not really a weird writer, but she's written a weird story or two, so it's interesting to see her take on it) and Michal Ajvaz, the great Czech writer.

Re: Weird Fiction Review

Today I received S. T. Joshi's The Weird Fiction Review #2, published by Centipede. Judging by the couple things in it I've read so far, and the names I recognize and the titles in the contents listing, I am expecting compelling reading.

Donald R. Burleson - "Boxcars"
Mark Howard Jones - "Out of Stock"
Caitlin R. Kiernan - "Fish Bride"
Robert H. Waugh - "Iceboy"
Simon Strantzas - "The Cornucopia"
Aaron Besson - "The Tea Cosy of the Black Earth"

ESSAYS
Michael Cisco - "The Supernatural: Concept and Genre"
Jason V Brock - "'Cosmic Introspection': Lovecraft's Attainment of Personal Meaning by Way of Infinite Insignificance"
S. T. Joshi - "Things in the Weeds: The Supernatural in Hodgson's Short Stories"
David Curtis - "James Turner and the Arkham House Renaissance"
Alex Houstoun - "The Language of Lovecraft: Naming and Writing in 'The Call of Cthulhu'"

POETRY
Phillip A. Ellis
Charles Lovecraft
Wade German
Phillip A. Ellis
W. H. Pugmire
Derrell Schweitzer
Ann K. Schwader

DEPARTMENTS
Alexander Binder - "Artist's Gallery"

Re: Weird Fiction Review

I've just realised that I've confused Joshi's journal from Centipede Press with the VanderMeer's website! Shame on me!

"We work in the dark -- we do what we can -- we give what we have. Our doubt is our passion and our passion is our task. The rest is the madness of art."
