Re: Eibonvale Press

'I'm supposed to be keeping quiet about it, but it finally looks as if there will be a budget paperback copy of Worming the Harpy at the end of this year or beginning of 2011.'

Looking forward to it!

I'm very interested in Eibonvale....I'm off to have a look around their site. Did I hear Nina Allan's name mentioned...

Re: Eibonvale Press

The PDF proof copy of a very interesting Eibonvale Press anthology arrived in my inbox today... Blind Swimmer: an anthology of stories and novelettes centered around the theme of 'Creativity in the Wilderness'.

That's a great theme -- one of the best I've encountered in my own writing career!

I have just proofread my own contribution and I took the opportunity to have a peek at some of the other stories in this very substantial volume... And I think this is going to be a truly tremendous tome!

Re: Eibonvale Press

A couple of photos of Brendan Connell's lastest book, Unpleasant Tales, which I received through the mail yesterday...

As always with Eibonvale Press books, it has a unique design aesthetic... Remember those vinyl sleeves that always looked a bit mysterious because they didn't have much information on them (I'm thinking of albums like Led Zeppelin 4 or Head Over Heels by the Cocteau Twins)?

Well, Eibonvale Press books are a bit like that -- mysterious!

That's the cover of Unpleasant Tales above but it's difficult to photograph because of the way it reflects light. Below is just a random page, so you can see that the internal design is also excellent.

It's a great book by a great writer from a great press!

Re: Eibonvale Press

The first review of Blind Swimmer has now appeared online here.

This volume is one of my favourite anthologies of the year so far... and as the year is almost over, its position in my affections looks unlikely to be challenged!

Re: Eibonvale Press

A photo of Blind Swimmer, which has won my award for "best anthology of 2010 so far" -- not that this award carries much weight; but we all live in hope!

I particularly admire the theme of this anthology -- 'Creativity in Isolation' -- one of the best themes of any anthology I've encountered in all my long years of book learnin'.

Blind Swimmer features a story of my own called 'The Talkative Star'. It's the kind of thing I most enjoy writing: a miniature story-cycle of two dozen linked microfictions.

Anyway... Don't read it near deep ponds... I'm serious!
