Re: The Music Of Graveyards

In playing the Call of Cthulhu adventure "In a City of Bells and Towers", this little entry seriously perplexed the investigators.

"And into his dreams he fell...and forever."

Re: The Music Of Graveyards

And this reminds me of a line in a song, weirdly enough:

"And the wisdom contained in the telepathy of fear,
Solidified our suffering to the droning sound I still hear..."

-Swans, "Telepathy"

Certainly the most brooding track on a good album might remind one of an equally broodig tale in a good book!

"And into his dreams he fell...and forever."

Re: The Music Of Graveyards

Some families, right here, in Toronto, live just meters from a cemetery. One sees a backyard, a fence, and beyond, a secluded cemetery. This always seemed to me a morbid experience. "Hey, kids, don't throw the ball over the fence, or you are gonna wake up those dead". In my own country, not many people like the idea of living close to cemeteries, and in fact, the price of properties go down in the area surrounding cemeteries. With the exception of the famous "Recoleta" cemetery, area where condos double or triple in price. Interesting. But here, in Toronto, I see expensive houses, just centimeters from cemeteries, it looks like Torontonians don't care.

The sound of cemeteries, by and large, graveyards, shouldn't be much different from the sound anywhere else. It is tradition in some countries to leave the dead in the house the night he died, instead of taking the body to a funeral home. Would this sound of graveyards, Ligotti mentions, be different from, the sound in the house, the first night the person died? I never heard anything especial in cemeteries, and I saw quite a lot. I attribute the sound (if someone did hear anything) to fear, psychologically we maybe fear cemeteries, and fear makes us hear or see anything.

Cemeteries (or graveyards), for me, are the most horrendous tradition man can conceive. Why do we keep the bodies? They are dead, if you don't believe in afterlife; or they are somewhere else, if you do. I always tell my wife, "Promise me that when I die, you are gonna cremate my remains, and throw them down the toilet. After, get another man, enjoy my money, and forget that I ever existed."

I know who you are

This seems somehow relevant:
