Update
After having rejected my first piece in January (but with only a slender majority), the editorial board accepted my second one yesterday evening. So I will, at long last, be published in that prestigious literary magazine.

Re: My literary career
It's that Flemish literary magazine I mentioned earlier in the thread. It's the second oldest of the Dutch-speaking world (to put it grandly), dating from 1855. It's called Dietsche Warande & Belfort, DWB for short. I really feel I am nearing the centre at last... A pity my life is a shambles at the moment (divorce imminent and my leaving this house, all decided today, too...). Still - I am happy!

Re: My literary career
My literary career is entering a new phase - I have been invited to read a story of mine in Amsterdam, on June 5th. It is the same story which is going to be published in that magazine I mentioned earlier in the thread (and in the same month, I believe, which is a nice coincidence).
Things are looking up. UPDATE: There certainly must be a momentum there - I just learned that I might read my poetry, too, later in the year. Two persons responsible for organising literary evenings at Perdu are firmly behind me. Watch this space...

Re: My literary career
Congratulations! I've just printed out "No Community Without Enemies" and shall read it sometime this week. This is great news, and we wish you lots of success -- however you define such success!

Re: My literary career
I wonder what you'll make of my story, Wilum. I translated it myself. I hope it meets with your approval...
A new development today - I have been invited by another excellent magazine, again in Belgium, called nY, to submit anything I have lying around . nY is the result of two prominent literary magazines joining forces, Yang and Nieuw Zuid. nY can mean 'new' in Scandinavia. I know several editors, because my first breakthrough was in Yang, in 2000. They admire my work. What this all means is that I'll have 2 publications in almost as many months. Which is really inspiring. And my public reading on June 5th is going ahead as planned. The story I'll be reading is called Love Is Here (reference to the most powerful song The Supremes ever sang). The (young) organizer of the evening has called it, in the leaflet he produced today (a draft of which I have seen), 'heartrending'. Which it certainly is. A pity I won't be able to translate it...
