I loved this show and am really excited to see the next season. It's far less a show about AI than it is a show about spirit possession, expanded consciousness, and ego death. When the synthetic humans recharge, they appear to be meditating. Rather than make a show about robots becoming more human but remaining robots.. it's more like humans have managed to create a synthetic body to host consciousness descending from God, or have created God. I think this show is really spooky and unmissable weird supernatural horror.

I loved this show too. It was said to have one of the highest audiences of any Channel 4 series, I think? I found it interesting how they struggled over what was human, what would define human and also what they thought was acceptable to do to these "humans"...all the terrible things people would probably want to do to each other, but with the benefit of not having the guilt afterwards because they weren't "real". It was very thought provoking.
