DAGON Ligotti special (1988)

As a result of thoughts that I cannot nail down as a result of the 'Intentional Fallacy' thread, I've been exploring my Ligottiana here. And I find I have a copy of DAGON 22/23 (1988) (Ligotti special) and a photocopy of the Ligotti material in CRYPT OF CTHULHU (Hallowmas 1989). I haven't read these for many years. Does anyone know whether there is any material in these two items which I am not likely to have elsewhere?

(I also have pages 35 - 40 torn out of FEAR magazine (April 1990) which is a publication of THE SHADOW AT THE BOTTOM OF THE WORLD, including a photo of TL I don't think I've ever seen elsewhere).

des, hold onto those items. To the best of my knowledge, "Ten Steps to Thin Mountain" appears only in Crypt of Cthulhu #68. Also, the Ligotti quotations cited in Dagon 22/23's articles are rare. They are from the Silver Scarab first edition of Songs of a Dead Dreamer, which is quite scarce.

"What does it mean to be alive except to court disaster and suffering at every moment?"

Tibet: Carnivals?
Ligotti: Ceremonies for initiating children into the cult of the sinister.
Tibet: Gas stations?
Ligotti: Nothing to say about gas stations as such, although I've always responded to the smell of gasoline as if it were a kind of perfume.

I have some of the Dagon issues (one of them being the Ligotti issue), but I have not perused them in quite some time. I think I should do that

Same. Must look into that.

Recently acquired CoC #68... More on that later. Very intriguing.

"Ten Steps To Thin Mountain" was, I believe, reprinted elsewhere, but as far as I can recall only in a German translation!

Yes. It can be found in a German magazine:
ZEHN STUFEN ZUM DÜNNEN BERG (Ten Steps to Thin Mountain)
Das Schwarze Geheimnis # 3/1998
(Magazin zur unheimlich-phantastischen Literatur) 1998, Hofheim/Taunus
Übersetzung: Michael Siefener

Unfortunately, this magazine can't be found. ;)

Re: DAGON Ligotti special (1988)

I have a complete run of Dagon (most of them contributor's copies). If I recall correctly, issue 8 was the last one to which I didn't contribute.

So, as well as Ligotti stuff, that special must have something from me.
