Pessimistic Japanese writers
Sorry if these have been posted before, but I only came across them this evening. Short write-ups on Haruo Sato, Osamu Dazai, Keiji Ni####ani, Edogawa Rampo, and Japanese death-poems.
Of the writers I only know (and love) Dasai. Sato's novel sounds incredibly like Huysmans' Stranded, but I gather the French Decadent movement had a big influence on him. https://www.japantimes.co.jp/culture.../#.WiRJKDdrzIU https://www.japantimes.co.jp/culture...my-landscapes/ https://www.japantimes.co.jp/culture...iji-ni####ani/ https://www.japantimes.co.jp/culture.../#.WiRoNTdrzIU https://www.japantimes.co.jp/culture.../#.WiRorjdrzIU | |||||||||||
