Re: Twin Peaks - Series 3

Episode 6 was brilliantly done. It featured all of the hallmarks you'd expect from the best Twin Peaks offerings-- melodrama, dream logic, witty humor, absurdity, horrific violence, and hints of the supernatural. And Richard Horne might be the most repulsive character since GOT's Prince Joffrey.

Re: Twin Peaks - Series 3

We're a third of the way in and already I'm dreading this series coming to an end. There hasn't been a single dull moment yet. Everyone has played their part to perfection - I'm thinking especially of Naomi Watts.

The scene in the diner with Heidi, the school teacher, and Shelly was just right.

Re: Twin Peaks - Series 3

Episode six was a winner. What I like the most is how David Lynch makes you a participant in the plot. He makes you think and take risks. Just Dougie's bizarre doodles in the insurance case files is a ride in itself. And the Richard Horne character is a work in itself. The texture of Twin Peaks 3 is like a layered cake, or should I say pie?

If any of you ever want to talk extensively about Twin Peaks with another fan, and dive into spoiler-ish material, send me a PM! Nobody I know is watching this right now and it's driving me nuts.

I would love to gush about this series, but I don't think it should be by PM.
I think it should be understood that there will be spoilers in this thread.
It is also driving me nuts that a lot of my friends haven't watched it yet.
They want to wait for it to stream on Netflix or some other platform.
I don't post about it on Facebook because I'm trying to not spoil for my friends there, but enough is enough! We need to reclaim this site from the political threads and debates that make me click on New Posts withsome dread.

Twin Peaks is weird! This site is supposed to be about weird ####, not political ####!

Let the gushing begin ...

Re: Twin Peaks - Series 3

And folks continue to bitch about how boring Dougie is. I love it. It's brilliant and unexpected. Some fans are upset that Lynch isn't following their horribly written fan fiction script for season three, apparently.

Re: Twin Peaks - Series 3

I love Dougie (and Janey-E and Sonny Jim)! I just love how in the Twin Peaks universe, no one is treating Dougie like he's damaged, but are just concerned that he's acting a bit different and should go see a doctor.

I'm grateful that I am unable to binge this series, otherwise I would have nothing to look forward to each week.

I love how, 25 years later, we're seeing a new generation of Twin Peaks residents and (sadly) how history repeats itself - e.g. Shelly's daughter being married to a drugged-out loser.

Spoilery speculation follows:

I wonder if Richard Horne is actually related to Leo Johnson.

Have you visited the dugpa forum?

You could spend the rest of your life discussing the minutiae of the series on there!
I'm loving the series too. When I heard Lynch was directing every episode my hopes went sky-high and it hasn't disappointed.

Re: Twin Peaks - Series 3

If you really want to immerse yourself in the Twin Peaks world, read The Secret History of Twin Peaks, a novel, by Mark Frost. It really is not a novel, but a series of documents compiled by a so-called archivist and annotated by an FBI agent called just TP. There are a lot of clues to the mysteries of Twin Peaks going back to the Lewis and Clark expedition, the trail of tears of the Nez Perce, UFO sightings, and even Bigfoot. This is a rich vein for researching Twin Peaks and nerding out on its weirdness.
As a companion, I also recommend reading Kultus by Kirk Sigurdson. It is a weird novel of Bigfoot, more or less the same setting as Twin Peaks, the Pacific Northwest, full of robber barons, pot-farmers, eco-terrorists, and Bigfoot. Kirk Sigurdson wrote his masters in English thesis on the gothic and Lovecraft, parts of which were published in "Lovecraft Studies". These are great companions to the new series, which already threw a hint at the Nez Perce angle.
