Re: Twin Peaks - Series 3
Episode eight felt like a secret collaboration between Elias Merhige, Peter Tscherkassky and Guy Maddin. A real milestone in Lynch's career as a director.

Re: Twin Peaks - Series 3
I was wondering if this would expand what was viable on tv but I'm leaning towards probably not.
Lynch might be the only arthouse surrealist who has this much clout. Advertising and music videos are the only place I could see stuff like this happening on television. The days of weird late night short films are over, in the UK at least. Alchemist- no bluray player? On amazon the second hand dvds didn't seem too steep to me. There's a 7 film Lynch box set containing FWWM.

All Of Art History May Actually Be Inspired By David Lynchs Hair | HuffPost
Quite funny. Looking for clues in Lynch's hair. There's a small segment of Lynch's fans that always wanted him to return to his earliest phase (I like most of his styles but I have to agree it's a shame he didn't do more overtly dark and grotesque films) and I think they'll probably be pleased with episode 8. This "early" phase actually never left his paintings. I've been looking at some and Bob appears in some of them (not a recognizable likeness tho). Shrapnel from the Skies: The Paintings of David Lynch Has any of the biggest theorists looked at paintings and songs (like the mention in above article of a Sally in the painting with Bob and in a song)?

Re: Twin Peaks - Series 3
After episode 8, tonight's episode felt very Patriotic!
Spoilery stuff: Albert's flirting with Constance made me man-squee. The visit with Mrs. Briggs made me sad-happy. I really like how Bobby has grown over these past 25 years. I wasn't crazy about the forced quirkiness of Lucy and Andy inn the season 2, but this season I've grown fond of them. Tim Roth and Jennifer Jason Leigh make a fine couple. Gordon and Diane sharing a smoke was touching and sweet. When Cooper stared at the flag, I wanted to stand and hold my right hand over my heart. I'm still not a fan of Au Revoir Simone. I wish there was a different musical act for the close. I suspect that this will not be the most popular episode, but it's still damn bette than everything else out there.

Re: Twin Peaks - Series 3
This may have been my favorite episode of the new season thus far. I know it wasn't as inventive or psychedelic as some of the other episodes, but it had so much humor and quite a few tender moments in regards to Major Briggs' survivors. It felt the most like the old "Twin Peaks" to me, and I'm a sucker for nostalgia.

Re: Twin Peaks - Series 3
Episode 9 was nostalgia and a good change of pace from the surreal episode 8. Also a few dots are beginning to be connected, although slowly, but why rush it. Enjoy the ride. #### you Game of Thrones!

Re: Twin Peaks - Series 3
After the strange and cathartic journey of the episode 8, the new episode looks forward to get the sensations between comedy and mystery of the original Twin Peak. 'Around the dinner table, the conversation is lively'.
Just like Eraserhead. | |||||||||||
