Thomas Wiloch

I recently discovered the work of Thomas Wiloch, and it was evident from the outset that the man was a genius. I'm grateful to have secured a signed, new copy of his collection, Mr. Templeton's Toyshop, every piece of which, that I've so far read, is stunning. The trouble is finding more of what he's written. I can't find anything on either The Mannikin Cypher or Paper Mask, both of which I want desperately. I know that Screaming in Code and Stigmata Junction are still available, but everything else seems to have disappeared from the market. Any help with this would be hugely appreciated.

Re: Thomas Wiloch

I was able to read one of his rarer books (I think it was "Tales of Lord Shantih") by checking it out through Interlibrary loan, you might try that route. I seem to recall someone mentioning here recently that a publisher is planning on putting out a collected works edition of Wiloch's writing, so hopefully both of us will be happy sometime in the not too distant future.

Re: Thomas Wiloch

Thomas Wiloch was a genius, definitely. His work is a peculiar and induplicable mixture of melancholy, sadism and an exquisite black humor that does wonders to the reader's mind. An extremely creative and skilled writer that hits all the right spots in my reader heart.

I too am hoping the project to collect his works comes to fruition.

Re: Thomas Wiloch

On Monday there should be an issue of Phantom Drift Journal which has a tribute to Thomas Wiloch. I am trying to reach Denise. Otherwise, it will take a little while longer and the issue will be in the next few months. I've been so busy with the distribution of my anthology that I haven't gotten around to scanning everything, and Bruce Boston has been very patient with me having his Wiloch books, which I appreciate quite a bit.

Hello teguififthzeal,

Thank you for this information. On their website, it looks as if the new issue isn't out until October 2014: html_phantom-drift. I take it that there's some plan to release it early, or something of that sort?

Re: Thomas Wiloch

There was such a plan, but it had to be delayed. The issue is being released in October. The introduction is by none other than moi, so everyone absolutely has to read it.
