First Two Reggie Oliver Books

Is there anywhere at all that has copies of Reggie Oliver's first two works for sale? They seem to be literally impossible to find.

Re: First Two Reggie Oliver Books

They are impossible to find. That's at least what my experience tells me. There should be some kind of omnibus (whatever that means the two first collections, or the three first, or, well, whatever is means in this situation) coming out on a small press later this year, but I don't know if there is anything official about it yet.

Re: First Two Reggie Oliver Books

The original publisher tends to "find" copies every once in a while, so I'd suggest dropping them a note and enquiring.

Re: First Two Reggie Oliver Books

It took me forever to find a copy of Reggie Oliver's first book, The Dreams of Cardinal Vittorini. A few years ago it was selling for well over $200 (at least when one could find it). I shudder to think what it's selling for now. You may want to keep your eye on Ebay. Good luck!

Speaking of Haunted River; are they still publishing books? Seems they haven't updated their website in quite a while.

Re: First Two Reggie Oliver Books

I am fortunate to have the first two books. I occasionally check Abebooks.com to see how much they are selling for. I saw a copy of The Dreams of Cardinal Vittorini not too long ago for $599! I checked a week later and it was sold!!

Haunted River
I bought these two wonderful books (a year or so ago) as a result of participating in a Shocklines thread in which the Haunted River publisher also participated ... I can't remember the exact circumstances but I recall buying them from him relatively cheaply. It pays to keep your ear to the electronic ground.

Re: First Two Reggie Oliver Books

I actually found The Complete Symphonies of Adolf Hitler first, then ultimately found The Dreams of Cardinal Vittorini after scouring the internet for a year or more, both are signed and inscribed. Two years ago, as someone stated before, copies "were found" and "became available" for a short time around Christmas, I was notified through email that a copy of TDoCV and I picked up another, which is unsigned. I considered it a total freak occurrence, getting that second copy, and I keep it as a reading copy. I get the impression that more may appear from time to time, depending on needs of The Haunted River's owner, who I believe is Chris Barker. That being said, I doubt there would be many copies of either book left at this point, and I shudder to think what one might go for 5 or 10 years from now. I was lucky in that I paid retail for both copies of Vittorini, and I believe, 100 dollars for TCSoAH, but that was about three years ago. If I remember correctly, my copy of Symphonies was literally the only copy I could find on the internet after using pretty much every search engine available for rare books at the time. I must say, they are both beautiful books and in terms of content, real gems. Reggie Oliver's style is so refined and precise, and I find his stories phenomenal. It's a shame they are so hard to find, though, because they actually live up to the hype in my opinion. They are finely produced tomes, and I find The Complete Symphonies of Adolf Hitler particularly nice to handle. It's one of the heavier books you'll ever hold, like impossibly heavy.

Good luck.

Tim

I find it superfluous to mention that I hate all of you who owns them. ;)

Sigh. That time machine would surely come in handy.

I think it was Shakespeare who said, and I tend to agree, that

Re: First Two Reggie Oliver Books

Well, here's hoping the omnibus edition gets published (by Ex Occidente perhaps?). I don't really care about the collectability, I would simply like to read Mr. Oliver's past work.
