Re: Joel Lane

This is what I have written about Joel's story 'The Last Witness' in the anthology WHERE THE HEART IS:

Almost a prose poem, this retrocausally memorable story is toxic in its own way, crystallising its own bitter succinctness by this writer's unique alchemy of negative pain/grotesqueness and positive commitment. Through Lane, we ever learn to transcend nightmares of existence by sharing his dark visions and breathing in his oxymorons. The best medicine seems toxic

Re: Joel Lane

Hi folks. It's possible some of you may be interested in this new booklet:

http://www.ninearchespress.com/donotpassgo.html

Nine Arches Press is a small UK poetry publisher. This is the first in its new line of pamphlet-sized short story collections.

Do Not Pass Go collects five of my crime stories (four previously published) and is a beautifully produced 44-page pamphlet, printed on some of the best paper you'll see anywhere. It's available through the Nine Arches Press website.

Re: Joel Lane

Hi folks. More self-publicity I'm afraid, but this one is my best shot – 13 years went into it.

I'm very happy to tell you that my book Where Furnaces Burn will be published by PS Publishing in the UK in late September.

WFB collects together a series of 26 supernatural crime stories, all set in the West Midlands. It's my attempt to blend the occult detective and urban noir traditions, revealing the myths and terrors buried within the industrial landscape.

Four of these stories have appeared or are forthcoming in 'year's best' horror or crime anthologies. Six appear in this book for the first time.
