Topic Winner "A Season In Carcosa" and "The Grimscribe's Puppets" are coming!

I am proud to announce Miskatonic River Press will be releasing two anthologies I am editing. A Season In Carcosa will be similar in feel and direction to Ellen Datlow’s stunning Lovecraft Unbound, but I’ll be mining the King In Yellow work of Robert W. Chambers. The 2nd book is called, The Grimscribe’s Puppet and will feature all new tributes to weird fiction’s legendary master, Thomas Ligotti. These two books will be released in summer and fall of 2012. The list of names who have agreed to pen tales for these two books is, I feel, breathtaking. More on that as things progress.

Dani Serra will be doing the covers for both of these anthologies.

http://www.multigrade.it/index.html

With Wilum Pugmire’s upcoming new collection and Kevin Ross’ Dead But Dreaming 2, as well as Scott Aniolowski’s new holiday-themed anthology of new Lovecraftian fiction, Horror For the Holidays, MRP steps to the fore to solidly commit itself to giving readers the finest in Lovecraftian fiction.

Editor’s note: Submissions for the 2 anthologies I’m working on are by invitation only.

Re: _A Season In Carcosa_ and _The Grimscribe's Puppets_ are coming! !!

This is great news! Definitely something to look forward to as I am of big fan of both Ligotti type stories and The King in Yellow. I have a couple of chapbooks by Rainfall Books and an anthology called Rehearsals For Oblivion that are based on TKIY. Would love to know more about how these anthologies got started. I like the art by Dani Serra, as well. And, yes, keep us posted.

We’ve had various Lovecraftian collections of this type over the decades. Some of them I love. I wanted one for RWC‘s KIY, as a reader I dreamed long of this. Datlow wasn‘t doing one, wish she had, so I decided to see if I could. I asked some people I know and they have said yes. I can’t mention names as yet, but many here know Matt Cardin’s comments regarding a new golden age of horror and some of the names he and others mention, that’s who I’m asking, writers like that.

Tom is one of the finest writers we’ve ever had, so a tribute to him was a no-brainer. And it’s high time. Again, no Datlow doing it, so he I am. Again, I’m asking the same kind of people. And Tom was very kind in giving permission to do this book. As I monster fan of his many gifts to us, this is my love letter to him.

I approached a publisher and they said yes. So it’s game on.

Behind this all is my love of what if, so it’s what if he wrote this, or what if she did something like that. I’m delighted and surprise by the talented artists who have said they will submit. I think many here will be as well.

This is wonderful news. I am particularly excited about the Ligottian volume, as I have yet to read any Chambers. Hopefully by the time both books are released this will have been rectified. Good luck Joe, and keep us posted about new developments please.

Re: _A Season In Carcosa_ and _The Grimscribe's Puppets_ are coming! !!

As the Vice President in Charge of Fiction for MRP, I am particularly THRILLED to be involved in bringing these books out. I am especially excited about The Grimscribe’s Puppets! In preparation I have been re-reading selections from Ligotti's books, and have fallen in love with his work all over again.
