Re: Laird Barron's "The Beautiful Thing That Awaits Us All" and Night Shade Books
I too just got an email from Amazon that estimated date is June 14-June 18. I just hope I have the book by the time I go to Providence for NecronomiCon, as I want to have Laird sign my copy. It's going to be thrilling to see him, we haven't hooked up for a long long time. Last time I saw him was when S. T. and I met with him for dinner in Olympia, just before he left town.

I wouldn't put any stock in that June date either. Amazon is pretty clearly just making up dates until it gets concrete info. It's a bad habit the site has with delayed titles.

You are absolutely right. I've had Amazon update titles like this for years before finally deciding to throw in the towel. Sadly, this could go on for a while.

Re: Laird Barron's "The Beautiful Thing That Awaits Us All" and Night Shade Books
Oh, Amazon is NOTORIOUS for speculative dates - they've even been caught taking pre-orders for music that hasn't even been recorded (google burial - DJ Kicks).
To further add to the confusion, a pirate ebook seems to be doing the rounds online, found copies of it while looking to see if the delay was both in print and the digital editions. Sad affair, all around.

OK Amazon, keep giving us dates plucked from the aether. No, really, it's all right.

They're not doing it to intentionally piss you off, it's the way their computer system works. It's staring to send those out for all outstanding NSB titles now. Frankly I'd just assume the book is never coming out until Laird posts here (or on his website or FB page) and gives us a definitive date.

Well, they set up their computer system to work this way. They're not doing it to piss people off; they're doing it to string people along. Eventually their customers figure this out and then they get pissed off. No one likes to be manipulated and lied to.
