Re: Lovecraft and Mythos anthologies? There's so many.

Cthulhu's Daughters is just a renamed version of She Walks In The Shadows.

Mammoth Book Of Cthulhu (ed) Paula Guran.
I thought this would be a compilation of her previous ones but apparently all the stories are original.

Children Of Lovecraft (ed) Ellen Datlow

I think all but two of ye stories are original to Paula's anthology. It has an impressive Contents, but the cover illustration is infantile...

Re: Lovecraft and Mythos anthologies? There's so many.

The introduction to Mammoth Book of Cthulhu is laughable but so far I've enjoyed most of the stories I've read. Cthulhusattva has some interesting tales as well but I found the editor's introduction, in which he argues that Lovecraft's aliens really are "gods," unconvincing. It boasts a beautiful cover though.

Anyone reading Black Wings IV? The paperback is riddled with typos.

I think there's a few more been announced since I was keeping track. Including Swords Vs Cthulhu.

I've got it on order; it won't be shipping until late September. As for expectations...well, it can't possibly be worse than CHILDREN OF CTHULHU. Datlow's last Lovecraftian anthology (LOVECRAFT'S MONSTERS) was a bit weak, but I'm curious about this one in that it emphasizes "Lovecraftian" but not based on the Lovecraft mythos - no pastiches, no references to Cthulhu or the Necronomicon - haven't seen a collection like that for a while. So, we shall see.

Too bloody many anthologies to keep track of these days.

Cthulhu Mythos Anthologies and Collections - How many have you read?

This is a list challenge but it also includes single author collections. 187 books.

Don't miss the cover to Tales Of Lovecraftian Cats
The Lovecraftsman: The strangest (real) Lovecraft book ever: Tales of Lovecraftian Cats
Kipling, Stoker and Blackwood? What's going on there?

Re: Lovecraft and Mythos anthologies? There's so many.

Has anyone read Jamneck & Joshi's Gothic Lovecraft? I'm curious because it's got no reviews, it's very expensive so I'm a tad reluctant, but more than anything because it has a Gwyneth Jones story. I only know her by reputation but she really stands out of the table of contents, I'd imagine Jamneck got her involved. Her story hasn't been printed anywhere else as far as I can tell.

I think all the stories in this collection, with the exception of Kiernan's story, were not published elsewhere. It has a deluxe and a standard edition. The deluxe is beautiful. Small, focused, Byzantine. But the standard edition is less costly and has the exact same stories. I may be biased but this seems to be a labor of love and it shows so I would recommend it. I wasn't familiar with Cycatrix Press prior to this anthology but I absolutely do NOT regret the purchase. Beautiful book with beautiful stories.
