'True Detective' Season 2 News: HBO Crime Drama Heading To The Big Screen?

http://www.enstarz.com/articles/6411...cess-video.htm

Interesting, if it's true...

"True Detective's signature style means a new location and new cast this year. While season 1 took place in Louisiana, the crime drama's second installment will follow the murder of a city manager in California. The cast includes Vince Vaughn (career criminal Frank Semyon), Colin Farrell (Detective Ray Velcoro), Rachel McAdams (Detective Ani Bezzerides), and Taylor Kitsch (Officer Paul Woodrugh).

Creator Nic Pizzolatto is set to write all of the episodes as he did with season 1, though multiple directors will be stepping in to take over for Emmy winner Cary Fukunaga."

Interesting that of all people, MM would work a cameo or two into season 2 of TD, if he does. I suppose the fact that he was, by far, the most compelling character on the show will have something to do with it. ;)

One important element that is missing in season 2 trailer: any sense of the uncanny which practically dripped from every frame of season 1.

NP want's to be Cormac McCarthy. Most apparent in Galveston. Forget it Nick.

Pizzolatto stated he was unhappy that the first season came too close to outright supernatural horror. From that and his other statements regarding Weird Fiction, I'm guessing the second season is going to be a more straightforward detective story.

Yeah, I remember the interview (with Hitfix I think) in which Pizzolatto denied that weird fiction was all that central to TD as an influence. Notably, he said that Chambers was a lousy writer, and that his show's primary influences were Faulkner and the Bible (which he recommended that the viewer read while watching TD).

(In the voice of Borat Sagdiyev) May Nic Pizzolatto wake with the smegma of one thousand sewer rats crusted upon his lips for the rest of his days!

Speaking of Ligotti related media, if this counts:

I have the really old Dedalus European Classic version of Grabinski's "The Dark Domain" with the hybrid man woman beast on the cover--that's why people looked at me funny when I carried it around.

To think this guy was a Catholic, Henri Bergson acolyte who hated materialism! Fiendish stuff, indeed.
