anyone else have problems ordering from/communicating with mythosbooks.com?

on July 3rd, I ordered a book from them, a book with a triple-digit price tag. not a minor purchase. I get an order confirmation saying it will ship in 3-5 business days. A calendar week goes by, I don't mind. there was a holiday. give it time.

another week goes by. Nothing. the website still says my order is "Pending." I send an email asking to check the status. days go by, no response.

this week, still no response to my first email. I give up and find the book I want someplace else. I send another email requesting to cancel my order. no response yet.

As I recall, the proprietor is a pharmacist and handles Mythos Books as a hobby. There are sometimes delays in shipping and communication, but I believe all is typically well in the end.

ah, it makes sense now! not a full-time bookstore.

I ordered a book from them last year that, after months of delays, was revealed to not exist in their stocks. Money was refunded, yes, but the experience was still rather sour.

I had a similar experience ordering from them. Apparently the owner has had an illness in the family and has been incommunicado as a result. I do wish he were up front with that on his site though. I had to go through a third party to get him to answer emails.

I purchased the lettered version of My Work Is Not Yet Done about a year and a half ago from Mythos books. I received it after about 4 to6 weeks (can't exactly remember) but that was sent from the US to the UK.

I've ordered from Mythos Books a couple of times, and I've found that they do take a little bit longer than most booksellers to get the books to me, but I do get them all right in the end.

Just curious, has anyone ever gotten word on what became of Mythos Books? I read on a forum somewhere that as of 2010 there were plans for future releases. But apparently, that has never come to fruition.
