Re: Neglected Works
Thank you for that list. Like RG, there are several titles that I'm familiar with, but have been looking for that extra motivation to actually read. But even more exciting are those titles that are totally new. You can always be relied on for good book recommendations, Druidic.
Re: werewolves—I'm assuming you mean that literal and explicit werewolf novels (outside of the paranormal romance fantasy genre) are rare. But I always found compelling Stephen King's archetypal analysis of the werewolf genre that includes books like Stevenson's Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde and Tessier's Nightwalker. Horror that employs idic transformations is far less uncommon, and has some pretty exceptional examples (see above).

Re: Neglected Works
Incidentally, I recently bought this collection, by Merimee, precisely because the last tale, 'Lokis', is apparently a variation of the werewolf myth:

Re: Neglected Works
Janusz Majewski did a 1971 Polish film version of Lokis, called Lokis. I haven't seen it but I've heard its good.
That Borowczyk film in the trailer however, is godawful. I'm not big on Borowczyk in general but he's done much better films like Blanche and everything else I've seen by him. Recently Mongrels by Stephen Graham Jones and The Devourers by Indra Das got some good buzz. I haven't read either.

The Red Right Hand Creased
Suspicion (Literature) - TV Tropes This is essentially a dark modern Gothic novel. The Knight enters the Dragon's Lair and the Dragon waits, smiling. The Hopkins Manuscript by RC Sherriff The Lectern: "Messiah" Gore Vidal ‘The Rim of Morning’ review: Two supernatural novels by William Sloane - The Washington Post I sought out reviews of some of the works I mentioned. Know when to stop reading.

Re: Neglected Works
Dear all,
pondering good Werewolf tales I highly recommend 'The Galoup', a short story by Claude Seignolle. He writes another good one (Marie The Wolf) in his book 'The Accursed'. Anything by Seignolle is wonderful and he remains quite unknown in English translation so the books are relatively cheap. He is also Frances leading folklorist and is 100 years old this year. Re: Neglected Works
Just a heads-up: Wildside will include one of the works mentioned in the OP, "The Hole of the Pit", in their Weird Adventure Novel Megapack that should appear sometimes during this year. Now, the novel in question certainly isn't difficult or expensive to obtain by any stretch of imagination, but this mean that you will be able to pick it up for a dollar (as long as you own a kindle reader).
