So everything can be bought and exchanged now. Even horror is not spared!

"So in the end it remains advisable to accept whatever comes, to behave like an inert mass even if one feels oneself being swept away, not to be lured into a single unneccesary step, to regard others with the gaze of an animal, to feel no remorse, in short to crush with one's own hand any ghost of life that subsists, that is, to intensify the final quiet of the grave still further and let nothing beyond that endure." ---Franz Kafka, Resolutions

Trumps Wildly Unqualified Judicial Nominee Is Also a Ghost-Hunting Horror Author and Really Bad Blogger

I remember this guy being interviewed and saw a fair amount of middling to positive reviews of his books. Lovecraft ezine often promoted his work. I bet a ####load of people are going to delete those reviews and pretend they never liked him.

Re: Very Unusual News of the Day

I still support Trump but this is sheer stupidity and worse.

Should we glorify a different kind of serial killer? Like Trump's sons?
I've always favored the death penalty for poachers of these animals.
I'm not against hunting for meat. I'm against hunting as a blood sport. And it doesn't get any worse than Big Game Hunting. Hope a rogue elephant takes them out. Hard.

Re: Very Unusual News of the Day

I've always liked guns but really what can you do with them if you're not a hunter? Target practice, even if you're a great shot, grows boring after a time. There are collectors who collect books they'll never read, cars they will rarely drive, guitars they cannot play. Guess when it comes to guns, I'm in that category.

I believe Lovecraft had some antique pistols he probably never fired. Wonder where they ended up...

Garrison Keillor fired for alleged 'inappropriate behavior' by Minnesota Public Radio

Veteran radio host and writer Garrison Keillor confirmed Wednesday that he was fired by his longtime broadcast home, Minnesota Public Radio, over accusations of improper behavior.
After confirming the news in an email to the Associated Press, Keillor issued a follow-up statement saying he was terminated over “a story that I think is more interesting and more complicated than the version MPR heard.” However, he did not elaborate.
MPR issued a statement on its website Wednesday announcing it would “end its business relationship with Keillor’s media companies effective immediately.” That includes ending distribution and broadcast of The Writer's Almanac, a daily syndicated program that Keillor continued to write and produce, in addition to rebroadcasts of The Best of A Prairie Home Companion.
They also noted that Prairie Home Companion itself, which is now hosted by Chris Thile, will get a new title.
In the statement, MPR President Jon McTaggart acknowledged, "Garrison Keillor has been an important part of the growth and success of MPR, and all of us in the MPR community are saddened by these circumstances. While we appreciate the contributions Garrison has made to MPR and to all of public radio, we believe this decision is the right thing to do and is necessary to continue to earn the trust of our audiences, employees and supporters of our public service."
Keillor created and hosted Companion from its inception in 1974 until he retired from the radio variety program in a blowout at the Hollywood Bowl in July 2016.
His firing came one day after publications of a Washington Post column in which he argued against the idea that Minnesota Sen. Al Franken should resign his seat over allegations he groped radio host Leann Tweeden during a 2006 USO tour before he was elected to public office.
"Eleven years later, a talk show host in L.A., goes public, and there is talk of resignation," Keillor wrote. "This is pure absurdity, and the atrocity it leads to is a code of public deadliness. No kidding."

GOOD!
I'm not happy about this. I feel bad for his alleged victims.
You can only be a smug, self-important, faux-folksy, pompous windbag for so long.
When people say they voted for Trump because they hate elitist stuck-up liberals - this is who they picture.
