Tsuitô no zawameki (Noisy Requiem) ~ Yoshihiko Matsui
Originally shot in 1988 Yoshihiko Matsui's Noisy Requiem (Tsuito no Zawameki) is still building a following for itself, still carving out a name for its creator, which should tell you something about what sort of film this is. Described as "radically nihilist" by Midnight Eye ( Midnight Eye review: Noisy Requiem (Tsuito no Zawameki, 1988, director: Yoshihiko MATSUI) ) it doesn't take too much to make a connection between Matsui and the far better known Sogo Ishii, who he has collaborated with on different projects. The film appears to have found a new lease on life recently and now has an official web page complete with a pair of trailers. Disturbing,

Though without strings attached, one can strut, jump, hop and, moreover, utter words, an elaborately made puppet! Who knows? At the Bon season next year, I may be a new dead invited to the Bon festival. What an evanescent world! This truth keeps slipping off our minds.
