Re: The Swan River Press

For those interested, I have here two promotional pieces to celebrate the republication of Mervyn Wall's classic fantastical satires The Unfortunate Fursey and The Return of Fursey.

First up is "The Castletown Witch", an article Wall wrote for The Irish Times in 1956 describing his holiday in Douglas and a chance meeting with Gerald Gardner, who proved to be a big fan of Wall's novels.

The Swan River Press

Second, we've got an extract from a talk Wall gave to the Bram Stoker Society at Trinity College Dublin in 1987 on the origins of The Unfortunate Fursey.

The Swan River Press

I hope you enjoy them both!

Best,
Brian

Re: The Swan River Press

So it looks like the Fursey books will be back from the printer on 21 March. I'll start processing them and getting them into the post as quickly as possible.

There are still a few numbered sets left (that will come with the free booklet). First come, first serve.

There's no special link for them at the moment, but will go to the people who order both The Unfortunate Fursey and The Return of Fursey in the same order.

The Swan River Press

I'm also doing a raffle for a pair of first editions (1946/48); entry into the raffle is included in the pre-order of the set.

Best,
Brian

I've just started a new blog. It'll mostly have announcements and updates, plus anything else that should catch my fancy...

Swan River Press | Ireland’s only publishing house dedicated to literature of the gothic, fantastic, strange and supernatural.

Re: The Swan River Press

Thank you! Quite a surprise and I know both Jim and I were nervous about its very publication! But it looks like people enjoyed it!

Re: The Swan River Press

Just announced the new title yesterday:

The Satyr and Other Tales by Stephen J. Clark

It's more than just a new edition, but revised and expanded with new illustrations.

The first 100 copies of the new edition will come with postcards bearing signature and a small sketch.

Re: The Swan River Press

Stephen J Clark is not only an original visionary artist, he is a writer of strange romances in the decadent macabre tradition of the Yellow Nineties: elegant, bizarre, full of curious occult learning and louche bohemian characters. He is a modest gentleman, otherwise his work would be blazing more brightly in the literary firmament. This book will adorn your shelves, where it will be at ease in shadowy converse with your copies of A Rebours, The Picture of Dorian Gray, The Great God Pan. Mark V

I agree with above.
But having collected his work in Ex Occidente Press, I was wondering what extra there is in this new book to entice me to buy it, as I am inclined to do.
