It constantly surprises me to know not everyone is aware of that great Cthulhu adaption.

I've already watched it thrice!

Re: About "The Face of Twilight"

Well I went to the Mail Box service today and they actually did have something for me, the lucky bastards...

My copy should be on my hands sometime next week... too bad I actually have tons of work in the meanwhile, so I'll have it the week after...

Re: About "The Face of Twilight"

Well yesterday I was done with all of my work so I picked up my copy (softcover # 17) and read it straight up at midnight.

What a fantastic and eerie tale. Congratulations to Mark Samuels for such a great story; it's been a while since I read horror of that caliber (and a while since I read something that good in general) and I'm looking forward for your next project (And hoping to find "Black Altars" sometime at Ebay)

One question though. Is "The Face of Twilight" related to a certain story of yours (that I won't mention here to avoid spoiling it to future readers) in "The White Hands" that shares exactly the same core philosophy? Is FoT an extension of the ideas worked in that story or is it an independent tale that takes place in the same, hmmm, "universe"?

Anyway, people die...

Re: About "The Face of Twilight"

Karnos, thanks for the kind comments.

Yes, FoT was derived in part from the story in THE WHITE HANDS to which you allude. I suppose that I substituted television for mirrors though.

Since BLACK ALTARS is o/p, I feel able to say that it mostly contains secondary and earlier fiction. I wouldn;t expend a great deal of effort or money in trying to obtain a copy. In my opinion the only really worthwhile story contained therein is "Patient 704", which I expect will be reprinted in my third collection anyway.

All best
Mark

I'll take note on that, then, thanks for the tip.

Hope to see the new collection soon..., same goes for Matt's new material. :P

Re: About "The Face of Twilight"

Karnos,

Don't believe what Mark's told you (who is he to judge anyway ;)). Black Altar is very worth checking out, and I'm sure there are still copies to be found here and there on the internet for the original cover price... Try www.bookfinder.com

Well, I quite like the images in BLACK ALTARS...even if they are a bit amateurishly done and don't, strictly speaking, all tally exactly with the story contents :-)

Re: About "The Face of Twilight"

Mark, I forget if I've mentioned this before but my local Waterstones has a large stack of copies of Face of Twilight in a prominent display.

Re: About "The Face of Twilight"

Mark, I finally got round to reading The Face of Twilight yesterday. Sorry it took so long. Anyway, I really enjoyed it. Started off a little slow but once things got going I couldn't put it down. Loved the eerie televison broadcast. And the necromorphs were creepy as hell.
