I'll take that as a "no", then :-)

Re: My Website (marksamuels.net)

great website mark does justice to your books. loved the two collections but didnt know youd written a short novel. immediately purchased it from the publishers (if theres any chance you could sign it for me, youd leave me grinning with gratitude). good luck with any future releases and ill keep my eyes peeled for your forthcoming one.

Damo---thanks for kind words about the website. Most of the congratulations are due to Mr Stranzas though, without whom...

All copies of THE FACE OF TWILIGHT are pre-signed, including the paperbacks. I hope you get a kick out of the thing.

All best
Mark

Listen, Mark. All I did was make the frame. YOU painted the picture.

Take your bow and don't worry about the man behind the curtain.

Simon, you have the talent to make even a bumbling amateur like me seem of interest.

Re: My Website (marksamuels.net)

"Bad art is more tragically beautiful than good art, because it documents human failure.", Tristan Reveur.

This is a great quote. There's a section in the story I'm writing at the moment that deals with this theme.

Of course, being the artistic failure that I am, this quote (and theme) have great resonance for me.

The two quote put together could be applied to two of my favourite writers.

Nagai Kafu is often considered a 'close, but no cigar' kind of artistic failure (personally, I think he's a god), and Mishima Yukio certainly made suicide into art.

Who is Tristan Reveur?

Re: My Website (marksamuels.net)

Tristan Reveur is an imaginary artist who destroyed all his work before killing himself and was referenced in a film called "Stay" that I watched a couple of days ago.

Something like Ligotti's J.P. Drapeau?

Anyway, it's a cool film, and well-worthing catching on DVD.

Re: My Website (marksamuels.net)

I was going to bump this thread as a little "happy birthday" to Mark. But the link to his website doesn't seem to be working. I had this error message:

Oops! This link appears to be broken.
Suggestions:
View cached copy of page from Google
Reload this page later
Search on Google:

Not often that I see "Oops!" in an Internet error message.

Happy birthday, Mark, anyway.
