Re: THE PROZESS MANIFESTATIONS (new collection)

I didn't want to order this before the teething pains of distribution were solved. Did everybody get theirs?

Still waiting for mind, but the arctic weather conditions we're currently suffering through over here has messed up the postal service.

It has arrived in Copenhagen. Reading The Red and the Black by Stendhal currently, so it may be a while before I get to it, though.

Still waiting but guessing that European orders will get there before American ones. Worth the wait

Having slept on reading this book, it also reminds me - including its physical entity as a designed book - of the recent atmosphere and process/ control of Lynch’s Twin Peaks, Third Series.

Re: THE PROZESS MANIFESTATIONS (new collection)

I finished reading it this afternoon. My Goodreads review:

"Another superlative collection by Mark Samuels... one thing that differentiates this (his sixth) from his prior collections is that the six stories contained herein are interlinked by a common narrative thread: this gives the collection a pleasant feeling of unity, though it must be stressed that the actual content of the stories themselves is, naturally, decidedly unpleasant. While I suppose that some might consider the book's price tag to be the most horrific thing about it, a number of stories in here make it well worth the cost of admission: I'm thinking primarily of "Court of Midnight" (with its Poeian atmospherics), the nightmarish closing story "In the Complex," and, especially, "The Crimson Fog," which I would classify as the collection's pièce de résistance: atypically longer and more action-packed than Mr. Samuels' usual fare, I've seen it described online as a mixture of Joseph Conrad's Heart of Darkness and H.P. Lovecraft's At the Mountains of Madness, and, should some publisher in the future ever take it upon themselves to issue forth a "best of" collection of his work, I can easily see that one (and perhaps "Court of Midnight" as well) being included among its contents."
