Re: Original Quotes

It's time to demand fairness for the Tyrants of the world.

Tyrants work indefatigably to sow fear, terror and death throughout their land. They know the value of a strong work ethic.

If Tyrants and despots do not have the right to kill their own people, then who does?

Tyrants address the problem of overpopulation head on and their altruism knows no bounds, despite libels and slanders from all sides. "Not a drop of blood shall be spilled in vain," is their motto.

And, lastly, they are inspirational; they give the world a lesson in what can be accomplished if one simply puts one's mind--and death squads-- to it.

It takes a lot of dedication to be a Tyrant. And a lot of the piled dead as well. So lift a glass to the boys who remind us of how much worse life could be.

Re: Original Quotes

"However, it eventually occurred to Peter that the events on display were not wholly foreign to him, for it became apparent that he himself was contained within every passing scene. But this element of familiarity was mitigated by the simple fact that the scenes in question depicted a fictitious life, a life Peter had not lived. It was a life devoid of both failure as well as regret. More specifically, it was a painful representation of the way things ought to have been."

"In a less scientific age, he would have been a devil-worshipper, a partaker in the abominations of the Black Mass; or would have given himself to the study and practice of sorcery. His was a religious soul that had failed to find good in the scheme of things; and lacking it, was impelled to make of evil itself an object of secret reverence."

When we were younger, we didn't know the answers. Now, older, wiser, we don't even know the questions.

Re: Original Quotes

People are idiots. Once you learn that and take that to heart there are no more surprises. But while admittedly stating such an obvious truth is itself idiotic, one still feels compelled to ask the inescapable: can some idiocy be less idiotic than other idiocies, closer to the truth than other idiocies? Of course! It would be idiotic to deny this and just a little less idiotic to affirm it. There is always a-- shall we say-- valued idiocy which isn't quite as idiotic as the moron's idlocy. But remember, idiocy is idiocy and varies only by degrees. The greatest idiots are those who deny this. They are the same idiots who lament the absurdity of the world when it is only their idiocy which is absurd, idiocy imagining the world could ever be anything but absurd, anything other than what it is: a playground for idiots.

I don't believe I've ever encountered so many "idiots" before.

"So many weeds, yet not a single flower."

"To commit oneself to what is good while knowing the commitment in question will end in disillusionment is the very essence of nobility."

"A man or woman of good character is worth far more than all the world and its pleasures."

Re: Original Quotes

Human Intelligence is no guarantee of anything. Some intelligent people are mean spirited and despicable. Some intelligent people are intelligent in one direction only and idiots in all others. Human Intelligence can be overrated and even a bit of a joke. There's a good reason why chimpanzees have that laugh.

"It is always better to come to accept that desolate knowledge in one's younger years. Yet many of the philosophical or scientific line who fancy themselves wise do not, in order that they may command that false respect accorded to the long-bearded gravity of age."

“Evolution cannot avoid bringing intelligent life ultimately to an awareness of one thing above all else and that one thing is futility.”

Re: Original Quotes

"All of life had made him a cynic. And he came back to the church fully expecting to bathe in an enlightened superiority among the congregation of his youth. But now in the midst of them and witness again to the old minister's sermon, not even pity remained. They clung to the only thing they could--the only thing anyone can hold against the world. That was lost to him forever and he began to weep."
