Great topic! For those interested in learning more about astrology I would highly recommend the book Cosmos and Psyche by Richard Tarnas.

Here is Ligotti's natal chart. I don't know the time he was born, so I used a general/default time of 12:00 noon. While it may be imprecise without an accurate birth time, it does give a one a general idea.


Tom's formation is called a "Bowl" formation.

"All the planets are gathered within a hemisphere, or bowl, i.e. 180 degrees, or a wide half of the circle (up to a maximum of 190 degrees).

Which such a pattern, relatively frequently found, the native usually has very characteristic and marked features, and he is deeply aware of his assets. The concentration of planets in a single hemisphere, or a half of the chart, may yield an abundance of energy, although less than that provided by the bundle or wedge pattern. Nevertheless, there is an acute awareness that the other half of the bowl is missing.

Most often, the native wants to make up for this lack, symbolized by the central part of the void (the empty part of the bowl opposite the tenanted part). "

I used to do Natal charts in the Seventies like that.

Mine is amazing!
Saturn and Pluto close to the Ascendant degree etc etc.

I asked Tom and he said that every so often, someone asks him (probably for similar reasons), but he doesn't remember what the time actually is. He's going to get back to me on that one.

Not so interesting as TL's data, but mine is 18 January 1948, 5.40 pm - Essex, England. You need all that sort of data.

My resultant chart has been haunting me since I first erected it in 1975.
