Watched the Night Gallery story 'They're Tearing Down Tim Riley's Bar'. Depressing, sentimental, and entertaining.

Re: Last TV show you watched

I finished the last season of Penny Dreadful. I loved it. It was entertaining and distracting, but I'm also glad there won't be any more seasons after the 3rd.

Re: Last TV show you watched

The finale felt rushed and messy to me, but I otherwise enjoyed the final season and was left ready for another. It was clear the cancellation was abrupt.

I am going through the BBC's show Ripper Street. It is very much a procedural show, but a superior one to the general fodder. It will do.

There was definitely room for another season or two - story arcs around Dr. Jekyll and the Mummy. But I would rather be left wanting more.

Re: Last TV show you watched

I finished the Hammer House of Horror TV series. Enjoyable as retro kitsch television, but lurid and rarely frightening. The much vaunted The House That Bled to Death episode didn't do much for me, while The Two Faces of Evil and The Silent Scream were effective chillers.

Oh, and the theme tune was super catchy:

Re: Last TV show you watched

Westworld. I like the Ligottian themes sprinkle about: puppets who play masters with other puppets, the poison of knowledge, conscious equals sufferings..etc. I've just finished the season finale though, which I've mixed feelings about. Plenty of my predictions were turned on their heads, but the show still runs in the direction I expected it to. The trend now is Revolution, which sounds fun at the beginning but drags on and on. I will keep my hope low for season 2.

"Tell me how you want to die, and I'll tell you who you are. In other words, how do you fill out an empty life? With women, books, or worldly ambitions? No matter what you do, the starting point is boredom, and the end self-destruction. The emblem of our fate: the sky teeming with worms. Baudelaire taught me that life is the ecstasy of worms in the sun, and happiness the dance of worms."

Re: Last TV show you watched

I'm currently watching Northern Exposure. It's nice and light-- a break from the bleak and terrifying fiction I usually immerse myself in.

Re: Last TV show you watched

I rewatched Carnivāle for the fourth, and probably last, time.

Your fall should be like the fall of mountains. But I was before mountains. I was in the beginning, and shall be forever. The first and the last. The world come full circle. I am not the wheel. I am the hand that turns the wheel. I am Time, the Destroyer. I was the wind and the stars before this. Before planets. Before heaven and hell. And when all is done, I will be wind again, to blow this world as dust back into endless space. To me the coming and going of Man is as nothing.

Re: Last TV show you watched

I recently watched a UK show called Flowers. It's a kind of bleak comedy but it's actually really moving, good and funny. Not in a crass rom-com way either. I get the feeling members here would enjoy it.

Definitely seek it out.
