I've only read about half the stories, I have no intention of rushing this book, but I've found them all to be rich and satisfying, the prose vivid and intensely atmospheric; Samuels' unmistakable signature is all over these works. "A Call to Greatness" opens the book and its a favorite of mine with its savage evocation of the Russia of the Bolshevik Revolution. "The Other Tenant" opens with paragraphs that grab you by the labels and refuse to let go. Written in Darkness and The Spectral Link made 2014 a notable year in my book!
