spoke to him in London (2004 forbidden planet - also met Tanith for a conversation and was shaking like a leaf), about a story set in New Orleans I think, and he very politely explained to me that many readers also shared my confusion with the story - so persuasively that I did not realize he had not resolved my confusions until later - thus maintaining the mystery - he has indeed written some superlative weird work - a very intelligent writer.
