I am quite pleased to proclaim that I have not yet delved into the work of D. F. Lewis. That is to say that though I am currently ignorant of his talent, I am comforted by the fact that I have a new author of promise to be introduced to. Ironically, I am quite certain that I have a copy of the D. F. Lewis special issue of DAGON. Shame on me. Another instance of my appetite for collecting being greater than my ability to digest the content. My ability to read, relative to time allocated and ground covered, is cursed by horrific eyesight and the strain imposed by a career spent staring at a computer monitor and construction blueprints. Of course, obsessing over TLO does not improve the situation. Hopefully I can retain my eyesight long enough to reach retirement and retreat to my library. At that point, I would imagine the unread books to be akin to the crystal flowers in Ballard's "The Garden of Time". Once the last volume is plucked from the shelves and devoured, time breaks free from the horizon and I am to be undone. Sorry - I just read the story last night and it is fresh in my mind.

Where was I? I am fascinated by the fact that there are so many stories by this author available online. Are they public domain? If so, I may make a point to gather some of them for inclusion within The Repository. Without having yet read one of his stories, I can already acknowledge that this author warrants a forum within the Other Authors section. So mote it be!

I have now read the contributions from D. F. Lewis within DAGON #26. Fantastic stuff! Thanks BENDK for bringing this author from out of my peripheral vision and finally getting me to take the plunge. And thanks as well to S_WEILH for dutiful diligence in researching the provided links.

Nice to see you stopping by here, Des. It doesn't surprise me at all to find that your fiction appeals to Ligotti aficionados, nor that Tom has praised it so highly (regarding which, thanks for providing the praise-filled quotations, bendk; I hadn't read them before).

Btw, my recent and ongoing silence in the Weirdmonger group is simply part of an ongoing larger cycle of silence that has enveloped me off and on for years. I do still follow the discussions and find them interesting.

Ah, what a pleasant surprise to find the man himself on the boards.

I'm enjoying the tales in "Weirdmonger" so far. All the "warnings" are certainly true, as far as the dense reading goes. But I also like stories that offer me something different each time I go back to them. Especially stories that seem to have written themselves, or to have a life of their own....
