TLO Slowdown
The recent slowdown in TLO performance appears to be a deliberate throttling of resources by the Host Service Provider. Apparently the resources being demanded by this site are beyond the threshold tolerance of the HSP. I am working with their support to resolve the issue. I have noticed this for the past couple of days, but have received no complaints. Is the site extremely sluggish for everyone else as well?

Re: TLO Slowdown
yes, especially when logging in.
could the storage of audio or video files be the source of the problem? | |||||||||||

Re: TLO Slowdown
Yes. I thought it had to do with the extra podcast visitors to the site the past couple of days, but I see now that the problem goes deeper than that.

Re: TLO Slowdown
I don't know much about this, but is it possible that the stored video clips in the movie thread is dragging down the performance? I don't know how video linking works.

Re: TLO Slowdown
As a clarification, embedded content from sites such as Youtube have no increased impact on bandwidth as the files are being streamed remotely. Increased site traffic can have an impact, but the problem appears to be high CPU demand, which likely relates to older coding and the host of plugins added. I may have to roll back on resource hungry features or deny search engines from crawling the content, the latter which I recall was especially an issue. HSP's have grown to shun sites like TLO, as they tend to demand a higher level of resources than static sites when crammed together on a shared server, therefore they throttle them when they breach a demand threshold.
