Re: "PHANTASMAGORIUM"! Edited by LAIRD BARRON! !!

I'm curious as well. Laird Barron stepped down as editor this week, and I still haven't received the printed copies I ordered back in December.

I did receive an email a while back stating that half of the staff had contracted MRSA, and also that since printers were such a problem, they decided to assemble the magazine themselves. Probably not the best idea to announce those two facts in conjunction with each other, but still.

Then, Laird Barron posted this on his Facebook page on Wednesday:

Quote
To Whom it May Concern:

I am steppping down from my post as editor of Phantasmagorium, effective immediately. It has been a fun ride, but personal obligations have intensified of late and these bring my writing and the editorship into conflict. Thank you to the readers and writers who supported this project. And thanks to JUstin, Lara, and JD for allowing me a chance to edit a great magazine. Good luck to them moving forward.
Now the site is suspended. Things certainly seem to be afoot...

Sam:

I am distressed to read of this lack of customer support. My province was the editor post, so there is little I can do to fulfill the order. However, please PM me here or at Face Book with a snail mail address and I'll make it right with you, if possible. If anyone else here has a similar case, please contact me via PM.

As for Phantasmagorium, my understanding is that they plan to adopt an online format with weekly fiction under the stewardship of Edward Morris.

Re: "PHANTASMAGORIUM"! Edited by LAIRD BARRON! !!

I've just received this release from _Phantasmagorium_'s "new" production mgr, Scott Nicolay.

Recently Laird Barron announced that he was leaving the chief editorial post
at _Phantasmagorium_ to focus on his own writing. We were all sorry to hear
this, but I ask you, can anything that means MORE of Laird's writing out
there in the world be a bad thing? And it is not the end: I am very happy to
announce that _Phantasmagorium_ will continue with some changes to its
leadership team. Most importantly, celebrated author & editor Joe Pulver
takes over immediately as Fiction Editor for the print edition. Edward
Morris, another dark talent in the world of weird horror, has already
stepped in as editor for the new online fiction section, and has begun
taking submissions for the "Story of the Week." I will also be joining as
Manager, working to improve all aspects of the magazine.

We know the initial rollout of _Phantasmagorium_ had its speedbumps. What we
want our once and future readers and contributors to know is that we are now
working aggressively to correct all these issues. Therefore, if you have not
received the copy(ies) you ordered, or have had any other difficulty, I am
asking that you immediately contact me, Scott Nicolay, via this email
address: contactphantasmagorium AT gmail.com. Give me the details and I will
get on the case.

Most of all, we want everyone to know it is our goal to continue the
terrible and exciting vision with which _Phantasmagorium_ began. And we know
we can do it. Stick with us. There are many thrills and chills yet to come.

"He who hides his madman, dies voiceless."

Dear Sam,

I am stepping in as "Manager" of _Phantasmagorium_, alongside Joe Pulver as the new Fiction Editor. Our first order of business is to resolve the issues that plagued the initial rollout. Please contact me at my hotmail address, which is <methysticin> followed by the usual suffixes, and confirm for me whether you ever received your copies, and if not, how many you ordered, of which issue, and please include your postal address. I will get your order off to you promptly in the post. Thanks!
Sincerely,
Scott Nicolay

A story of mine, "The Sound of Hatching", is currently Phantasmagorium's online Weekly Offering. It will be on the site until the next offering is put up, in one week.

I liked this latest piece quite a bit. Short, surreal and very enigmatic.

Here's another Phantasmagorium Weekly appearance by a member of this forum -- me. This one's short, but packed with bodily disintegration, lust and romantic betrayal. Check it out! It's called "The Need to Desire" and it's up for one week only.

Does anybody know what happened to this publication? I'm trying to find a way to buy issues 2 and 3 and it doesn't seem like the website is active anymore.

Re: "PHANTASMAGORIUM"! Edited by LAIRD BARRON! !!

The Publisher made a post that the publication was officially on hiatus, and stated that if Phantasmagorium did return, it would be with entirely new editorial staff. Soon after that, the web domain became inactive.
