Mark Valentine (and John Howard)

I know that a number of you appreciate the work of Mark Valentine, so I thought I'd mention that the adventures of his his supernatural sleuth, The Connoisseur, are now available electronically. The details can be found on the latest Tartarus Press blog entry.

Re: Mark Valentine (and John Howard)

I've just uploaded to youtube a short film in which Mark Valentine takes the viewer on a tour of his bookshelves:
Alongside authors you might expect (Machen, Shiel, Dunsany, del Mare), he discusses a number of other more eclectic authors....

Re: Mark Valentine (and John Howard)

Thanks very much for this Russell (and Mr. Valentine). Is it part two of an ongoing series of interviews with book collectors/authors about their collecting, the first one being with yourself? I hope that it is. It's delightful to be invited in to have a look and hear from these literary men about those books in their collections they treasure most. Now, I have to get my hands on 'A Voyage to Arcturus'. That's for sure.

Re: Mark Valentine (and John Howard)

Thank you. Particularly great to hear talk of H. A. Manhood's tales. I was pleased to discover recently that Sundial Press have a volume of his stories in the pipeline (with indeed an introduction by Mark Valentine).

Thank for for posting this fascinating and informative film, featuring two of my most favourite things: a staggeringly wonderful book collection and a beautiful black cat!

Yeah, watching this made me want to revisit that book too. I first read it in my teens, I remember Colin Wilson (who I was reading a lot of at the time) singing it's praises.

I think it's definately a book that rewards repeat readings as it works on many levels.

Re: Mark Valentine (and John Howard)

A podcast of my story "A Revelation of Cormorants " went live on Friday, complete with seabird and wave effects. The link is here:http://pseudopod.org/2012/02/24/pseu...of-cormorants/ This is all the more thrilling since I have no real idea what a podcast is. Perhaps it is a sort of wireless broadcast made by computer.

Re: Mark Valentine (and John Howard)

Thanks! Just bought the 'Cthonia' fine found edition of Mandragora. Scarlet Imprint is a small press with impeccable taste and astonishing quality (especially their fine editions). I buy everything they print without hesitation.
