"The Knife-Dance" by Michael Cisco, coming Spring 2016
The Knife-Dance Written and with an Author’s Note by Michael Cisco Cover and Interior Illustrations by Harry O. Morris Introduction by Paul Tremblay Curated and with an Afterword by Joseph S. Pulver, Sr. Overmoon to announce Dim Shores will be publishing a lost novella by Michael Cisco. The Knife-Dance was written in the late ‘90s and is part of the San Veneficio cycle of stories that includes The Divinity Student and The Golem. The book is a long-held passion project for Joe Pulver and would not be happening if not for him. This is the first time it will be appearing anywhere. The wonderful Harry O. Morris created the cover art and three interior illustrations. Harry did the art for The Divinity Student in 1999, as well as the five-volume Centipede Press set The Divinity Student and Others: Novels and Stories of Michael Cisco in 2012. (Paul wrote the introduction to one of those books, and Joe wrote the introduction to another.) The Knife-Dance will be published in two hand-numbered editions: 100 hardcovers and 200 trade paperbacks. The hardcovers will include a book plate signed by Michael Cisco and Harry O. Morris, as well as a set of color prints featuring all four of Harry's beautiful illustrations. The book is expected to ship in early Spring 2016.

Re: "The Knife-Dance" by Michael Cisco, coming Spring 2016
The Knife Dance is imminent! Both Trade Paperback and Deluxe Hardcover editions have been sent to the printer, and books should be ready to ship out in the first week of May.
Pre-order is currently open to people who bought the last Dim Shores chapbook (The Free School by Cody Goodfellow), and opens to all on April 11. If anyone here wants to order before April 11, go ahead and do so, just mention TLO in the order comments. About the story: “In The Knife Dance, we return to San Veneficio, city-setting of Michael Cisco’s award-winning first novel, The Divinity Student. An assortment of theological factions has gathered to decide the question of the exact nature of Jesus Christ, which promises profound consequences for the religion that bears His name. There is no dry debate here, however, as the various factions engage in shoot-outs and spycraft worthy of a gangland war. At the center of this brilliant fiction is the Knife Dance, a fabled saint’s greatest accomplishment, a deadly choreography that allowed him to overcome the Satan, but whose exact steps have been lost. Full of scenes of headlong action and ecstatic experience, The Knife Dance suggests that the edge of the blade on which we so often find ourselves may be our preferred location. It is another example of the considerable range of Michael Cisco’s talent.” — John Langan, author of The Wide, Carnivorous Sky and Other Monstrous Geographies DELUXE HARDCOVER edition
TRADE PAPERBACK edition
There are seven Dim Shores chapbooks still to come this year, you can see the full schedule here if you are interested. Thank you!

Sorry, no e-books, at least not from Dim Shores. Michael Cisco retains the rights to the story and can republish it elsewhere -- a number of his other works have come out as e-books relatively recently, although I don't know his plans for "The Knife Dance."

Re: "The Knife-Dance" by Michael Cisco, coming Spring 2016
Resurrecting this thread briefly as a copy of The Knife Dance is up for sale on eBay. Both hardcover and paperback editions sold out long ago and there is no e-book edition. I've asked Cisco a few times if he is interested in reprinting the paperback or doing an e-book, and I think it is safe to say he is not. I believe there are some Cisco completists here, so if you don't have The Knife Dance, here is a rare chance to get a copy.
