Well, a stupid review was bound to happen someday. By this I mean the fact that they gave the book 6 out of 10 stars:

Finally finished this one. Wow. Stories were good, prose incredibly dense at times. While the puppet motif came through loud and clear I was more chilled by his work regarding hypnotism from In the Sect of the Idiot. Something about hypnotized masses led by masters "who were themselves among the hypnotized" really left an impression on me. I don't think I've ever come across anything quite like it.
