Samuels, "Written in Darkness" available

Thanks to Mark's kindness, I had a chance to read a number of his recent weird tales pre-publication. The forthcoming Joshi anthology contains a long novelette, a stunner, one of the best blendings of horror and science fiction I've read in years. Heart of Darkness meets ATMOM? Well, yes. Yes indeed.

"Moon Blood-Red, Tide Turning" is hauntingly delirious and excellent as well.

Amazon UK currently claims: "Usually dispatched within 1 to 2 months." This is typical of Amazon, and I tend to recommend the Book Depository over Amazon, since the Book Depository never seems to have these availability problems, but I have also noticed that the wait-times that Amazon gives are usually gross overestimates.

Take care that it is listed together with original Egaeus edition, since you will no doubt benefit from existing ratings and reviews (which are pretty positive).
His Glyphotech reprint ended up being listed as a separate release.

There doesn't seem to be much buzz around this reprint, nor are those Amazon sale ranks looking too hot.
I fear that days of Mark Samuels being a household name among the aficionados of modern weird tale might be long gone.

Such is life, though. This field is not nearly as small and niche as it was in early 00s, talented authors are numerous and standards are much higher.

Sad, but then all good things must come to an end I suppose. A large portion of Highgate, not to mention myself and other literary associates, will miss those balmy days and scented evenings on the Cote d'Azur. Ahh well - the Algerian playboys were becoming rather obnoxious and, despite personal promises to prove otherwise, there probably is an upper limit to the amount of coke a human body can take. I feel guilty for not buying this yet, but I will as soon as I can. Samuels' work is consistently enjoyable and worth supporting. I can barely even finish the free Lovecraft Ezine samples of writing it's hipper to like right now. I should be able to buy Written in Darkness within the next few days.

Just an update on this. Have hit some tiresome technical problems, but am dealing with them.
