Now that Brendan Connell's Pleasant Tales is on the road to publication, it seems like the days of "Weird Fiction" and other morbid entertainments are pretty numbered anyway. Not feeling at home in a vast universe of inexplicable phenomena is a pretty early 20th century idea - think most writers now feel that the universe is more like a pal who is rooting for them.

Speaking as someone whose Amazon book sales rankings are usually somewhere down in the 4-5 million range, I would say that a #115,917 ranking doesn't look too shabby from where I'm sitting.

Actually, I kinda admire the Lovecraft Ezine crowd... For one, those arcane mental gymnastics they employ in order to describe every other currently popular genre fiction movie, TV series or video game as """Lovecraftian""" are quite something.

Actually, Justin, I find it hard to imagine the Universe as a pal rooting for me. No doubt my own limitations are formidable ones.

For some reason, I keep imagining it as a hot schizophrenic girlfriend who likes to play with sharp objects.

In short, yes. We're experiencing formatting problems of a kind previously not encountered. Until these are solved, unfortunately, we won't be able to release it. But I'll post a notice here once it's available.

Am I crazy, or was there an interview with Mark Samuels on the Weird Fiction Review website talking about his book Written in Darkness? I swear I remember reading one there. If so, I would presume it has been removed?
