Horror Story of the Day

This is a horror story for the luckless chef but it's also a horror story for the Cobra as well.

More like comedy of the day. If only I could believe it, but the New York Post....

P.S. I do feel bad for the cobra.

Re: Horror Story of the Day

I always loved that classic Post headline from a couple of decades ago: Headless Body in Topless Bar.

Has anyone ever checked to see if Bloch was moonlighting at the time?

My Dad worked in Jersey and New York in the 60’s and 70’s. He was a Special Agent for claims, working for the DL&W, later Erie Lackawanna, finally Conrail. He lived in those states during the week, in small rented rooms, coming home late Friday night and leaving again Monday morning. Fortunately, he was a car nut (like his son) and loved driving. He would always bring home a couple issues of that week’s Post with him. I remember reading them with rapt enthusiasm; they seemed part of a bigger, more exciting world than my hometown with its endless subterranean tunnels and subsidence scares, swallowing cars or even backyards, and the smell of sulfur from the still burning culm dumps filling the air after a spring rain…yeah, the Post seemed to offer glimpses into a world quite different than the one I knew as a kid…

Re: Horror Story of the Day

That headline was fantastic!

I've read the Post and all of the other NYC papers for years. The Post used to get the best pictures of the Hell's Angels outside their clubhouse, or once there was a guy trying to steal overhead electrical cables with a ladder and bolt cutters. When he snipped through the insulation the shock was so great that it fused his hands to the bolt cutters which were fused to the cable. Also, it blew one of his legs off and they had the picture in all its glory.

And the NYC papers always had the most gruesome mob hit pictures, pasta, cigars, and all!

And Page Six is legendary for gossip. Not that I indulge in such trivial pursuits . . .

Re: Horror Story of the Day

Reminds me of that joke about the dwarf psychic who committed a crime and went on the run. The headline read small medium at large.

Re: Horror Story of the Day

Another strange one. Sometimes people give and give until there's nothing left...
