Re: "The Croning" by Laird Barron

I'm really looking forward to The Croning. I also have a slight bias towards shorter horror fiction but Barron's brilliant novella "Mysterium Tremendum"is more than enough evidence that he can maintain a prolonged sense of atmospheric dread while presenting real flesh and blood characters without sacrificing all that which makes Mr. Barron's stories, well, Laird Barron's.

Re: "The Croning" by Laird Barron

A bit o' ill-informed promo for Laird Barron's hugely anticipated "The Croning" to add to the mix.

"Mysterium Tremendum" is, in my opinion, quite a landmark in contemporary horror. Or, rather, in horror fiction in general. It is also part of the reason why I pre-ordered it. Still there's a difference from that novella's page count and the 320 pages of the novel. Still, if anyone should be able to pull it off, I reckon it's Barron. So I'll let my worries be, and wait for The Croning with eager anticipation. I really do hope it'll be a succes.

Re: "The Croning" by Laird Barron

Hey folks, Night Shade Books has The Croning in stock right now! In fact, today is the last day of their big sale: buy 4 books, get them all for 50% off. I placed an order last week, and was pleasantly surprised when The Croning showed up with the other books in my order. Laird will also have a novella in the forthcoming The Book of Cthulhu II, which I pre-ordered. Pre-orders count for the sale. I really love Night Shade Books.

Also, check out a short interview with Laird over here. He gives some author recommendations, and hints about his next project. Joy!

EDIT: Just noticed the sale has been extended until April 26. Check it out, some great values to be had!

Re: "The Croning" by Laird Barron

Well, this was unexpected... Stumbling around Audible this morning, and found The Croning in audiobook format! Not sure how I feel about hearing Laird's words coming form someone else besides my internal head-voice, but intriguing nonetheless.
