Re: Egaeus Press

Thank you to all of you for your comments regarding In Delirium's Circle.

If anyone needs further convincing of Stephen J. Clark's talent and the exquisite weirdness of his novel, I've posted a sample chapter of the book on the Egaeus Press website. Just click
. And enjoy.

Re: Egaeus Press

Egaeus Press has been afforded a 3 part guest spot on Jason E. Rolfe's very good Bibliomancy blog. Here's a chance to read a little on the history and philosophies of the press. Click HERE for the first part if you will. Parts 2 and 3 will follow in the next few days.

Thanks.

Re: Egaeus Press

The next Egaeus Press publication, as I'm sure some of you know, will be The Tainted Earth, a new collection from George Berguño. I'm biased of course, but it is SUCH a good collection. It will be published in late November or early December (in plenty of time for Christmas!). Please keep an eye on the webite.

George has posted many more details of the book on his Goodreads blog (SEE HERE). And to give you a taster, he writes:

The Tainted Earth features eight stories written in the tradition of European Fantastique, blending history with the uncanny, and the beautiful with the hideous and strange. The collection also includes a novella in three cantos, a bizarre story about one man’s search for a secret society dedicated to the preservation of useless tales.

The contents of The Tainted Earth are as follows:

The Tainted Earth
The Sick Mannes Salve
The Ballad of El Pichón
Fugue for Black Thursday
Mouse and the Falconer
The Rune Stone at Odenslunda
The Good Samaritan of Prague
Three Drops of Death
A Spell of Subtle Hunting
Canto I – Historian of the Strange
Canto II – Bibliotheca Abscondita
Canto III – Kniébolo’s Lament
Notes to the Stories

Thank you.

Re: Egaeus Press

The next Egaeus Press publication The Tainted Earth by George Berguño will be published during the first week of December, 2012 (so all international orders placed during the first week or so after publication should be delivered comfortably in time for Christmas).

The Tainted Earth features eight stories written in the tradition of European Fantastique, blending history with the uncanny, and the beautiful with the hideous and strange. The collection also includes a novella in three cantos, a bizarre story about one man’s search for a secret society dedicated to the preservation of useless tales.

Two of the eight short stories appeared earlier this year. The Sick Mannes Salve, a satirical horror story, was published in the magazine Shadows and Tall Trees; while Fugue for Black Thursday was included in This Hermetic Legislature, the Ex Occidente tribute to Bruno Schulz.

The remaining six stories are rooted in ancient European, Latin American and Far Eastern folk motifs; a characteristic which sets it apart from George's first two collections of stories. As for the novella, A Spell of Subtle Hunting, this represents a very intimate tribute to Surrealism. It is an exceedingly strange story that celebrates the incomplete, the fragmentary, and the useless things of life.

There will be a further announcement on or very shortly before publication. Please watch this space. And keep one eye on the website (www.egaeuspress.com)

Thank you.

Re: Egaeus Press

Immeditately put in my order. VERY excited for this book. Oliver and Clark's books were both beautifully done (and it never hurts that the content is also of the highest caliber). I have the highest expectations for the Berguno book (one of my favorite writers) and have no doubt those expectations will be met and then some. Egaeus has done some outstanding work in the short time it's been up and running. Many, many compliments.

Re: Egaeus Press

Had "The Tainted Earth" waiting for me when I got back from out of town. Egaeus is 3 for 3. This book is just as immaculate as Shadow Plays and In Delirium's Circle. Just started reading it but want to say that Oliver and Clark's books have held up well to regular reading use. Egaeus is closing out the year well with Berguno's book and I am, and will remain, a devoted fan to this wonderful small press. Absolutely outstanding job!

Re: Egaeus Press

A review of George Berguño's The Tainted Earth has just appeared on The Pan Review. And a rather excellent review it is too.

"I've no hesitation in naming this collection as a future classic," says the learned Mark Andresen.
