Miguel, my whole post was a joke, and I blame Justin Isis for starting that sort of thing in this thread.

- Made up? Damn, and here I was all ready to relate what happened to me that time when I asked for just one Pepsi after a Suicidal Tendencies concert. . .

Re: Bands You've Seen

Bummer; I was hoping to get an interesting story. I was just going to tell how I was attacked by the Hell's Angels when in a druken stupor I crashed into one of their motorcycles during the last Miley Cyrus concert in Buenos Aires (yeah, it seems they are strapped for cash these days), but now I will keep that to myself.

The one thing I will tell is that, before passing out, I heard one of them say they would all get "Clay Morrow" on my ass; I did not understand the reference.

Your fall should be like the fall of mountains. But I was before mountains. I was in the beginning, and shall be forever. The first and the last. The world come full circle. I am not the wheel. I am the hand that turns the wheel. I am Time, the Destroyer. I was the wind and the stars before this. Before planets. Before heaven and hell. And when all is done, I will be wind again, to blow this world as dust back into endless space. To me the coming and going of Man is as nothing.

Re: Bands You've Seen

- Went out to see last night to catch The Holydrug Couple, an up and coming psychedelic/shoegaze group from Chile; they put on a decent show, were quite technically proficient and had an impressive array of pedal effects, but were partially upstaged by a guy up front who was getting into the music big time, and who either had just tried to break Dylan Thomas' drinking record, was on his first acid trip, or in the early stages of transforming into a zombie; his hunched-over, shambling antics had people in the crowd as well as members of the band itself filming him - I would not be surprised if it turns up on youtube at some point.

- However, what I'm really looking forward to is going to see these guys tomorrow:

Re: Bands You've Seen

Skeletonwitch, Baroness, Mastodon x3, Opeth x2,Priestess,
Converge, Howl, High On Fire, Down, (the) Melvins, Enslaved, Black Tusk, Ghost, Megadeth,

Probably forgetting a few but those were the highlights. I haven't been in a few years, either out of being unable to get off work or just sort of losing interest in going to shows in general.

I definitely like seeing bands in small dumpy clubs/venues over larger venues or theaters. In a small club you feel like you're part of the madness rather than just bearing witness to it. (first post, long time lurker)

Re: Bands You've Seen

Tool twice in Melbourne in April 2013.

Meshuggah twice.

Rage Against The Machine once.

I have been listening to Tool and Rage Against The Machine for about 12 years now, and their music doesn't get old for me. Still my 2 favourite bands.

I have listened to metal most of my life, and Meshuggah is still the metal band that I most respect. Their drummer Thomas Haake writes most of their lyrics and he is a great admirer of weird/horror fiction and literature, which can be heard in a lot of their music.

"I stare down the abyss - of organic dreams".
Meshuggah.

Re: Bands You've Seen

I would love to see Tool at some point. I hope we get that new album sooner rather than later but I'm fine listening to what they've given us. Their discography doesn't get old with me either. 10,000 Days is my favorite record. (Most Tool fans projectile vomit if you don't say either Lateralus or Aenima but whatever) Tool's cover of Zeppelin's "No Quarter" is one of the greatest achievements of modern man.

I'm a fan of Meshuggah but to a lesser extent, haven't been listening to them anywhere near as long though.

Iron Maiden is my all-time favorite band. They never get old, every time I turn on a Maiden record it sounds just as fresh as ever. I'll probably never see them live since they only hit the major cities when they actually do come to North America these days.

Last week I saw Ufomammut - great show. I see 1349 in two weeks and High on Fire and Pallbearer in August.

Re: Bands You've Seen

Tool (opening acts, Primus and 3Teeth)
Skinny Puppy (opening act, Youth Code)
Peter Hook and The Light (1/4 of Joy Division playing New Order material and JD's studio albums plus misc. songs. More theatrical than raw like JD's live performances but it happened to be the 30th anniversary of their last live show so I was a bit spiritually overwhelmed and didn't care much.)
Deftones (opening acts, Bots aND Death From Above 1979)
Death Cab for Cutie (opening act, Twin Shadows)
Alice in Chains

Going to try and see Swans I'd they come close this year. (God I hope those accusations turn out not to be true, for both parties.)
